Third Anniversary of Jamsil Special Tourist Zone



Songpa ready for take off as
iconic town of Seoul City Tourism


This year marks the third anniversary of Jamsil Special Tourist Zone designated
as the fifth special tourist zone and largest of its kind in Seoul and the first in
Gangnam District.

Jamsil Special Tourist Zone covers 2.31㎢of land in Jamsil and its vicinities, including Seokchon Lake, the symbol of Songpa-gu, Olympic Park, Bangi Food Street and 123-story Lotte World Tower.

Following its third year of designation as a special tourist zone,
Jamsil is now emerging as one of the most iconic towns of Seoul City Tourism that co-houses both historical heritages of 2,000-year-long Hanseong Baekje and state-of-the-art facilities of a future city, including 123-story super-tall tower.

Jamsil Special Tourist Zone is one of the Seoul’s most representative tourism spots with a variety of tourist attractions that are natural, man-made and historical, including Seokchon Lake that is beautiful throughout four seasons; Olympic Park; Lotte Super Tower 123 that will serve as a national landmark; Lotte World Mall; Lotte World that is the largest domestic indoor theme park; Charlotte Theater dedicated to showing
musicals; and Mongchontoseong and Hanseong Baekje Museum that preserve the historical heritages of Hanseong Baekje.

Now, Jamsil will serve as one of the must-visit destinations of Seoul for
foreign visitors.

A ceremony to celebrate the third anniversary of Jamsil Special TouristZone is scheduled to be held in collaboration with Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival during the period between April 10 (Fri) and 12 (Sun).

Featuring a variety of cultural events, including ‘Music Travel at Noon’, ‘Jamsil Blooming Concert’, and ‘All Sorts of Performance’ participated by community citizens, the ceremony will be highlighted by the Declaration of Tourist-Friendly Safety City and the Community Honorary Tourist Sheriff Appointment Ceremony on April 11 (Sat).

A spectacular fireworks show in and around Seokchon Lake will complete the
closing event.
